Part D coverage in Medicare Advantage Plans

Though Part D stand alone coverage is available many Advantage Plans include this coverage at a lower cost than a stand alone program. When deciding upon Part D coverage keep in mind that different plans have different formularies (covered drug list)and you need to determine if your medications are on it. Is your pharmacy in network, does it provide mail order discounts and will the costs of the drugs you take be the same in all Part D plans. Finally, have you explored with your physician a generic drug instead of a name brand.
